At 7:00pm EST the San Francisco Shock release an announcement that they had been teasing for 4 days prior. The announcement was that Dong-Jun "Rascal" Kim will be joining the them for the 2nd Season of the Overwatch League.
The "Shock"... get it... like the team... around this announcment was almost non-existent because Rascal was on NRG Esports, the SF Shock academy team, and there had been rumors about him joining for most of the off-season. The nail in the coffin came when Dante "Danteh" Cruz was traded to Houston leaving them with an open spot for a hitscan/projectile player, which Rascal fits into very nicely.
Overall the team has improved this off-season. They lost Danteh but gained a Main-Tank in Smurf that can challenge their young Main-Tank star Super to become even better and realize his potential. The addition of Rascal also increases the overall hero pool of the Shock DPS players, before they were constained as to who they could run because of how Danteh and Sinatraa's hero pools overlapped. Now there is separation between what hero's Sinatraa and Rascal play leaving them with wiggle room.
The one thing to worry about is if Rascal will be able to communicate more effectively this time around unlike when he was on the Dallas Fuel. The main problem for Rascal on Dallas was his inability to communicate well enough in English for his teammates to understand him. Hopefully these problems don't arise again and Rascal has become at least somewhat fluent in english because the Shock are almost all Western players.
The future of the Shock team seems fairly set, the only thing to watch out of is them signing another Support or two to back up their Main and Off Supports Moth and Sleepy. The tank line up and DPS rotation no comes down to who is performing the best in their roles.
