Okay, now that we're done with that. Blizzard introduced role lock, as I'm sure you know, this season. Though I have inexplicable problems with it on a competitive integrity level, Overwatch League was a goddamn snooze fest and everyone knew it. The shit was worse than watching baseball alone on mute while you're fishing. Like, it was bad boys. You could tell who was going to win the fight before it happened unless there was a major fuck-up by one side or a trans. After 3 stages GOATs got booted out and brought in a whole new meta of underloved characters including Mei, Reaper, Orisa, and Roadhog.
Though there is a meta this is probably the most balanced the game has been in about 2 years. Though Orisa play can be fairly... no really stale, the heroes around Orisa can have some amazing highlight plays, ex. Corey filling his enemies with arrows on Hanzo, Erster leaving no evidence of his crimes on Mei, or Gargoyle somehow convincing us that the Mayhem is good. The product that Overwatch League is putting is much better than how GOATs massacred the game and viewership. In season 1 Overwatch League averaged around 100 000 viewers, this season the average viewers are around 70 000. Will Overwatch League viewership be ok? Ya, I think so.
Should 222 have been implemented after stage 2 for a plethora of reasons? Yes. That's the past though and we're looking at the playoffs this September and we have to figure out how Sigma is going to fit into the meta and all the hero balance changes. The good thing now is that GOATs is dead and most players are out of Rein-Zarya-Brig-Zen and Lucio jail, some are stuck in D.Va jail *cough* blase.
